Pan Cake War

ワイキキに早朝からずらりと人の列。
Early in the morning, a long line draws people’s attention in Waikiki.

「エッグスンシングス」や、「クリームポット」などおいしいパンケーキを求める人々の行列だ。時には２時間待ち！なんてことも。
It is the procession which ask for delicious pancakes in front of famous cafés, such as an Eggs’n Things and The Cream Pot.Sometimes there is a 2 hour wait for pancakes!

いったい誰が並んでいるの？とみると・・・これがまた日本人率が高いんですね(;^_^A。
Who on earth lines up? There are many Japanese people in line.

 その人気を受けて、「エッグスンシングス」「カフェカイラ」などハワイのパンケーキ人気店が続々と日本にお店をオープン！

In response to the popularity, Hawaiian cafés which are popular with pancakes, such as Eggs’n Things and Cafe Kaila, opened branches in Japan, one after another!

これまた連日ものすごい行列ができているらしい。
I heard that there are always very long lines day after day.

 「でもなんで日本人はパンケーキに行列するの？」とロコのクラスメートに聞かれて「うーん」と答えにつまった私。

I didn’t know how to answer when my classmate who is local asked, “Why do Japanese people line up for pancakes?”

「えっとぉ・・・日本にもホットケーキがあって、基本同じなんだけど、でもでもアメリカでパンケーキを食べたら、全然違う味でふわふわ感も違っておいしかったの！」
“Well, there are so-called hot cakes in Japan—basically the same food item—but when I ate pancakes in the U.S, it was  a totally different taste and more fluffy, and it really tasted good!”

 でも、これ本当！ハワイというかアメリカのパンケーキと日本のホットケーキはまったく違う味がする。

But it is true. Pancakes in Hawaii or the U.S  taste totally different from hot cakes in Japan.

その違いを英語で表現できる能力は私にはないけど（だって、このブログ、COM201の宿題でもあるので英語がマストなの・・くぅう(ﾉ△･｡)）、「違う！」ということだけは断言できる！

Although I lack the ability to express the differences in English,  I can assert with confidence, "They are different"!”

で・・・私としてはアメリカのパンケーキが断然好み！
In conclusion, I much prefer pancakes in Hawaii to hot cakes in Japan.

It is a very excellent brand because it is the most delicious, in spite of being the cheapest and the original Wal-Mart brand.

これにホイップとアップルソースをかけて一枚目を、そしてクリームチーズにストロベリー＆グアバジャムのコンビで２枚目を食べると・・・シ・ア・ワ・セ♡

Every morning, I eat a pancake with whip cream and apple sauce, and the second pancake is with cream cheese and strawberry guava jam. I feel so happy♡

Raimbow Town



View from my room on 34th floor

ハワイで暮らす幸せの一つ、それはよく虹を見れることかもしれない。
One of the reasons for being happy by living in Hawaii is being able to see a rainbow frequently.

虹・・・って、日本では貴重なものだった。
 A rainbow – is really precious in Japan.

その証拠に日本では虹がでると、大きなニュースになる。
When a rainbow comes out, it becomes  big news in Japan.

ワイキキで暮らし始める前までは、たぶん４、５年に一度くらいしか虹を見なかった気がする。Before I lived in Waikiki, I saw rainbows only once every four or five years.

でも、この町、ワイキキでは、ふと見ると空に大きな虹色の橋が・・・！
But in this town, Waikiki, I often see a rainbow-colored bridge incidentally appear in the sky.

そういえば、ハワイの車のナンバーには虹がデザインされている。
That reminds me, a rainbow is designed on Hawaii car license plates.  

一昨日、朝、窓を開けたら目の前に大きな虹が！
Two mornings ago, after opening my window, a large rainbow appeared in front of me.

なんかいいことありそうな、そんな気分にさせてくれる幸福な朝！
That made me feel like something lucky was going to happen to me.

 Everytime I see a rainbow, I can't help taking pictures because I am Japanese!
